stupid thoughts 3
Communication (not) = understanding , connection = understanding?
Can technology help the communication come to a connection?
Can technology help the communication come to a connection?
stupid thoughts 2
Where can technology help to fill in a need?
Are there people that are being underserved by current model? Is there a lack of connection/love/help/communication/belonging that could be enhanced by technology?
- Seniors
- Sick
- new immigrants/non-English speaking
- rat race parents to kids
- teachers to students
- poor/homeless

stupid thoughts 1
A better method for brainstorming haha
sharing ideas - written and drawn.... meshes it automatically? something fluid, adaptable....
I'm just going to write stream of consciousness....
Connection
What are/were traditional ways/reasons for connecting? Even more basic, why do we connect?
To learn, to feel human (Maslow's social needs: friendship, sexual intimacy, having a supportive and communicative family,) to communicate , to be inspired, to help, to belong
Traditional methods - touch, talking, seeing, responding - letters, (feeling of other person's writing, labor invoved = love?), face-to-face, being intimate - feeling comfortable enough to give permissions to the other person (ie letting them hug you)...letting person in your bubble
Connect/ vs / Disconnect
Nowadays easier to communicate more often, but lacking in touch, feeling, slight nuances. Compensating w/ emoticons?
Can new means of communication, connection inspire?
How do we rally people to an idea? How do we rally people to help a cause? Is this still valid? Seems like we "feel" less, disconnect from fellow humans and their concerns? Our concerns?
What needs are NOT being fulfilled by new technology? Which are being enhanced?
Sense of touch -- of ANALOG.
Senses being dulled rather than enhanced? Nuances being lost? A text message is "unforgiving"
an email is "unforgiving"
Why does technology have to be so "visible", screaming "this is technology" --- this is sleek, unwelcoming
Can it be welcoming, analog, can it be in shades of gray rather than black and white? Can it be soft rather than hard?
